A Spectacular Day for Indonesian Art

Dear friends of LARASATI,

What a powerful and energetic way to kick off the New Year at LARASATI.

We started 2024 with a "big bang" by breaking the glass ceiling for one of the most underrated masters in the history of Indonesian visual art: Harijadi Sumodidjojo. The artist's masterpiece, arguably the best of the best that he ever created, titled "The Socialization of the General Election" (1954) was sold at LARASATI on Sunday, 28 January for a staggering SGD 244,000 (including premium), making it a new auction record for the artist.

It is a painting with a lot of priceless history in it, depicting the socialization of the first general election in Indonesia which was held in 1955. Therefore, we are extremely happy to bring it back to the sun where it belongs: Home Sweet Home, Indonesia.

The day also witnessed another remarkable achievement by another important yet underrated artist Oesman Effendi when his abstract piece titled "Green Hills" raked in SGD 34,160 (including premium), or twelve times above its opening bid at SGD 2,800, making it also a new auction record for the artist.

The boutique and exclusive collection of "only" 20 high quality lots finally generated a total sales of SGD 427,061, with 80% sale through rate.

LARASATI is a place where stars are born and reborn. We would like to be the dream catchers for many. Hence, we are delighted to be able to present a wide range of excellent pieces from paintings to sculptures and other precious artworks.

On behalf of all members of my team and myself, I would like to thank you for your continued trust and partnership.

We, at LARASATI, look forward to sharing more unforgettable experiences in connecting exceptional works of art with your passion and enthusiasm for collecting in the year of the Dragon. Happy Chinese New Year and Happy Election Day to all Indonesians!
